Good afternoon West Salisbury families,
This is your child’s principal Mr. Binns. I hope you are enjoying your amazing summer vacation. The sun, the beaches, the barbeques, and the family fun are all a part of the recovery and restful process in preparation for a new school year. As a school it is so important that we continue to keep our stakeholders (community, families, faith-based partners, students, teachers, and staff) involved in our school and to make sure your voice is heard in the running and decision-making of our school. The administrative team here at West Salisbury would like your input concerning our school.
During our award ceremonies last school year, I had a few parents ask me, “Mr. Binns why are our school colors maroon and gold, and our mascot is a tiger why aren’t we orange and black?” I said to them, “I really did not know why we were not orange and black and that each school, colors can be decided by administration.” So I thought about it and spoke to our administrative team, I do like the idea of possibly having our school colors be that of a tiger, which is orange, black and white, and as I think of the wonderful color combinations we can have of our school paraphernalia and the bright orange and contrasting black & white, I think it would be a great idea to look at possibly changing from maroon & gold which has been an amazing set of school colors for the past few years to the colors of a tiger.
We as an administrative team would like to get your input to see how you the stakeholders feel about our school colors and showing tiger pride. We have put together a short survey that will allow us to see how you the stakeholders feel about making a change to our amazing school colors that will represent our “Tiger Pride” and our loyalty to our outstanding students, staff, family and school.
Please take the time to let us know your preference and we will let you know what our final decision will be as we go into the new school year for 2023-2024 by completing the survey, see the links below for English, Spanish, Haitian Creole, and Portuguese.
