Good afternoon Tiger Family this is your child’s principal Mr. Binns. I hope you are enjoying this beautiful Sunday afternoon. Believe it or not we are already in October. Here are a few announcements for this upcoming week. First, I want to say that our Fun Friday Superhero Day was a huge success. Please see our Facebook for videos and pictures. We want to let our Kindergarten parents know that we will continue to complete our Kindergarten Ready Assessment this week, so please make sure your child is here to complete the KRA. This week we will have PBIS assemblies to show our students the expectations for acceptable behavior in school and on the bus. Parents be on the look out for progress reports that will be posted this week, Wednesday, October 4th, 2023 at 3:00 p.m. Parents please understand that if you are coming to school in order to go out into the building you MUST have your driver’s license or formal identification. Parents I would like to remind you that attendance is a focus this year. If you are bringing your child to school late, or picking them up early or missing a day you will receive calls from our attendance office associates, and administration. It is our policy to make sure that all of our students must be in school and if they are late, leaving early or not attending we have to communicate with you. Parents it is important to understand that transportation is important and if your child rides the bus or is a car rider if you want to make an adjustment you must have a written note before 1:30 p.m. so we can be sure that your child is safe. We appreciate your attention to this and please comply with our request which is a county wide policy. Finally, this Fun Friday is Local Hero Day. Your child can dress like a local hero (Doctor, policemen, firemen, teacher, lawyer, pastor, carpenter etc.). Stay updated with all Tiger news and updates by following us on Facebook, Instagram, Thrillshare Live, email, text messages, and class DOJO. That is it for now, we are the tiger nation this means more. Tigers let me hear you roar. ROAR!!!

Good evening West Salisbury families, this is your child’s principal Mr. Binns. We hope that each of you were able to stay dry and safe during this wet and rainy weekend. We have a few announcements for you this week. Parents that have children that ride the bus, please make sure that you are at the bus stop 10 minutes before the allotted time for the bus to arrive. We have had a large number of students that have had to be brought back to school because there was not a parent or adult to pick the child up from the bus stop. It is pivotal that you are at the bus stop so administration does not have remain at school because a parent is not at the bus stop. Parents, this next message is concerning any child that has medication. Nurse Schoofield wants all parents to know that medication should NOT be sent to school with a student. The medication must be brought to school by a parent accompanied with a doctor’s order to be given to Nurse Schoofield. This message is for parents that are continually bringing lunches to school. Parents, we understand that you would like to come to school and bring your child their lunch everyday, but this can be a constant disruption to the instructional day. We are politely asking that you refrain from bring the lunch to school everyday. The front office personnel still have responsibilities and if you the parent are brining your child’s lunch everyday, the office staff have to stop their responsibilities, call down to the class which is disrupting instruction time in the class and the student has to come to the office to get the lunch and again this disrupts the front office time while they try to work. This has been happening multiple times a day and when you add it up it takes time away from them to do their job. We truly understand that there will be times that an emergency or an unexpected circumstance may take place but please allow your child to bring their lunch with them in their bag or in a lunch box. Your cooperation and willingness to abide by our request will be greatly appreciated and helpful to our office staff. Parents, this next announcement is concerning our dress code. Unfortunately, we have had students that have come to school wearing inappropriate clothing. We have seen sleeveless shirts, spaghetti straps and crop tops with students’ bells and shoulders out. Please remember although we are no longer a CAP school, there still is a dress code. Please go to the WCPS website and click on parent/student at the top and look for Dress Code under the letter D. Crop tops, spaghetti straps, open backs and or sleeveless tops are not allowed. Please check the dress code and dress your child appropriately, thank you so much. If your child is dressed in appropriately we will contact you the parent to bring a change of clothes if not we will have to supply your child with a change of clothes. We want your child to have the freedom of dressing in their clothes of choice but it must comply with the dress code. Finally, this week is Fun Friday and it is superhero Fun Friday. Please dress your child in a superhero outfit, remember no masks are allowed to be worn in the building but they can wear the outfit. That is it for now, and we look forward to seeing our tiger cubs tomorrow bright and early. We are the Tiger Nation, this means more, Tigers let me hear you roar. ROAR!!!

Ms. Nutter consistently radiates positivity and consistently surpasses expectations in her efforts to enrich the lives of all our students.

Good evening West Salisbury Families, this is your principal Mr. Binns. I hope you are enjoying this wonderful Sunday. We have a few announcements for you this week. We want to congratulate Mrs. Tara Martens, Wicomico County’s teacher of the year for making the State Finals as she represents Wicomico County at the state level. We wish you all the best Mrs. Martens. Parents, please be aware that if you want to change your child from riding the bus or have them get on the bus you MUST send in a note, email, text message a written document requesting your change for the day. We are NOT permitted to change your child’s form of transportation the day of with a phone call, and if someone different is picking up your child they MUST, I repeat they MUST have identification. This is for the safety of the child. We will not permit last minute changes and or adults without ID to pick up your child. For car rider parents, in the morning please drive your child up to the orange and black cones and the staff will assist you with unloading your child from the car. Once we get used to the drop off and pick up it will go a lot smoother. Parents attendance is very important to our us. This year attendance is one of our school focuses and area of improvement. We are currently tracking all absences and lateness. Please understand if your child accumulates, more than 4 absences in a marking period you the parent will receive an Attendance Intervention Plan (AIP) which you have to comply to and if the absences and lateness continue and add up to over 10.5 days it could lead to truancy court. We do not want any of our families have to deal with this so we please ask that you send your child to school daily and be on time and if you are absent please make sure you bring in your appointment note or documentation for the absence. We want our tiger cubs in school. 1st grade parents, please be reminded of the West Salisbury ELA workshop that will take place on Tuesday, September 19. Please be looking out and listening out for another automated call with more information and see our Facebook, DOJO and Live Feeds for more information. Well, that is it for now, we are the Tiger Nation, this means more, let me hear you roar. ROAR!!! Follow us on Facebook, Instagram, and Live Feeds to stay updated on our announcements and activities.

Tomorrow 9/15/23 is Fun Friday and it is Tiger Pride. Wear the colors of a tiger orange, black and white. Tiger strong.
