Mid-term progress reports come out today, and our students have a full week of school prior to the start of Winter Break. Here's a look ahead at the break schedule, which begins at regular dismissal time on Friday, Dec. 20.

Reminder: Students will be in school this Monday and Tuesday, and then schools and offices of Wicomico County Public Schools will be closed Nov. 27-29 for the Thanksgiving break. The school system will reopen on Monday, Dec. 2. Have a great Thanksgiving everyone!

On Thursday, November 21, Wicomico County Public Schools held two Public Information Sessions regarding the current School Boundary Study and the two draft options for boundary changes.
There is now an ONLINE SURVEY open through Dec. 9 to gather feedback on the two draft options for the school boundary changes. Just scan the QR code in either English, Spanish or Haitian Creole to participate in this survey. We want to hear from you.

It's National School Psychology Week (Nov. 11-15), and we'd like to take this opportunity to say just how much we appreciate the team of school psychologists that supports students in Wicomico County Public Schools every day. We're so grateful for what you do!


Please join Wicomico County Public Schools in honoring and thanking American military veterans this Veterans Day (Monday, Nov. 11). In our schools, many of our students and staff will have opportunities to learn about and observe Veterans Day.

Reminder: The schools and offices of Wicomico County Public Schools will be closed on Tuesday, Nov. 5 for Election Day.


Reminder: Daylight Saving Time ends at 2 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 3. Please be sure to set your clocks back one hour for the switch back to Eastern Standard Time for the winter.

The first Superintendent's Open Door Session of the school year will take place Wednesday, Oct. 23 at the school system's main office on Northgate Drive. Chat time with the superintendent is first come, first served from 4-6 pm.


On Oct. 4, the 2024-2025 Wicomico Teacher of the Year, Debbie Reynolds (Wicomico Middle), joined the other 23 local teachers of the year from across the state at the Maryland Teacher of the Year Gala in Hunt Valley. Wicomico Schools had a fantastic time celebrating and supporting its top teacher, who in addition to teaching at Wicomico Middle is a graduate of James M. Bennett High and a former student of Bennett Middle, Prince Street Elementary, and Pittsville Elementary and Miiddle.. Thank you Ms. Reynolds for being such a fantastic representative of Wicomico County Public Schools, where our students are Learning Today, Leading Tomorrow.
Ms. Reynolds will continue to serve as Wicomico Teacher of the Year into April, when the 2025-2026 Wicomico Teacher of the Year is announced. That outstanding teacher is teaching in one of our schools right now, and your chance to nominate a deserving teacher for recognition is coming soon, starting Nov. 1.


The Office of Special Education and Early Intervention Services invites you to attend the first SECAC meeting of the 2024-2025 school year. Save the Date (Sept. 17)! State Superintendent of Schools Dr. Carey M. Wright will kick off her statewide series of Community Forums with a Community Forum in Wicomico County on Tuesday, Sept. 17. The forum will be held at Salisbury Middle School and will take place from 5-6 p.m. It is open to the entire community to attend.

Friday, Aug. 30: Central Office and school offices are open, but teachers and most school staff are off today to enjoy the last weekend of the summer before the start of school. We look forward to seeing everyone rested and ready for learning starting Tuesday, Sept. 3 for most students.

The next monthly meeting of the Wicomico County Board of Education is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, August 13 in the Board of Education Auditorium at 101 Long Ave., Salisbury.
